Summer Time and the dining options abound and the values astound! No need to cook, clean up or turn the barbecue on.
Chico's Cantina: Yes, we called it Carlos' last week but it's Chico's. And it's still still the best damn Mexican restaurant in town! It is the thought that counts, right?
Captain Run Aground's: The only floating restaurant in Key West. The Gumbo is not to be believed. The best tasting, spicy spicy Gumbo outside of the Delta. The fresh spinach salad with raspberry dressing rivals the best around. Along with an ice-cold one, this is a great lunch. Happy Birthday to the jaunty Captain Harvey!
Coco's Pizzeria: 100% authentic pizza with brick ovens to prove it. This charming new addition to Over Seas Market sits next to Goldman's. In addition to mouthwatering Real Deal Jersey pizza, the menu includes hot and cold sandwiches, baked pastas and take home pizza dough and sauce. The owner is a gregarious and neighborly host. Welcome to Coco Strauss.
Finnegan's: Music or soccer a late night scene to be sure. For those Gotta Indulge and have a burger and fries situations, this is the only stop! Serving late in the evenings and always a lively debate about something, the pulse of the city is often at the bar or at the back table along the wall.
Square One: Have you met Jean yet? Michael describes her as, "The only woman I might have married." That is saying something. Jean is the Hostess with the brightest smile and the demeanor of a diva. Also, Square One just launched an outstanding art showing of local Key West homes and colorful treatments of locations along with quite a range from the artist. The paintings were literally being sold at the Thursday evening opening.
Flamingo Crossing: Lower Duval's answer to homemade ice cream without the need for dry ice and hand churning. Perfect for sitting on the porch, for a leisurely walking around afternoon or evening walk. Are they going to have a butterfly flavor for the opening of the Butterfly Center?
Schooner Wharf: Music, Music and more Music! Afternoons with Michael McCloud is my idea of a summer vacation day and the big chill!
Green Parrot: Have you visited the "new room"? Darts, quiet, barstools for enjoying conversation and music all make this a new aspect for the Parrot.
Victoria Lesser: The display window we most want to sleep in! Drive by and take a look.
Kindred Spirits: Included in the 2002 Travel Guide section of shops. The gift location for the times. Kelly and Karen have proven dreams do come true. The afternoon tea is an experience for the soul.
