A WORD FROM ROBERT:
Dear Friends,
I would like to take just a minute to explain what the R.H. Foundation, Inc., is all about and how it came to be.
I played my first paying gig at The Alley, in Tallahassee, Fla. in 1976. When I was paid $35.00 at the end of the night, I realized that I had accomplished my dream. The fact that I was only paid $35.00 did not matter to me. What did matter to me was that I had played music for people and had gotten paid for it. So I continued playing for people and getting paid for it. The amount increased somewhat over the years which allowed me to live easier.
My first full length recording did not come until 1989, when producer Caroll Brown heard me at the Back Market Cafe in Charleston, South Carolina, and invited me into his studio to make my first album, SHADOWS. I continued to play for people and get paid for it but never found the motivation to market or promote my recording.
Several years later, my friend, Art Thomas invested money to have the SHADOWS cassette transformed into the SHADOWS CD. Still I could find no motivation for promoting this wonderful album.
One day it just dawned on me. I have always known that I had the potential to make a lot of money with my music, but money has never been a motivating factor in my life. So I thought; there are people who need money deseperately in this world and so many wonderful things to be accomplished if it is used correctly. Thus, a motivation!
The SHADOWS album is the only recording I will take money from. I will build me a cabin nestled in a beautiful wooded area, surrounded by trees and plants enough to support the birds and squirrels that live there. I will sit in my cabin and write songs and record CD's and give them all to the R.H. Foundation, Inc. I will give the Foundation all of the sales as well as the publishing and writers royalties. I am happy!
Please join me in helping those who so desperately need our help. I hope you will enjoy my music and enjoy the happiness and peace that comes from helping others.
Thanks,
